Schenectady County Internship and Volunteer Opportunities

The Schenectady County Partnerships to Build Success for Tomorrow's Workforce- our County internship and volunteer opportunity program is a new strategic initiative to help recruit, and retain the next generation of the County workforce! The Schenectady County Academic Internship Program is designed to place high school, community college, and university students within County government departments as student interns for the completion of specific projects, research, or studies to provide an opportunity for students to learn about public sector careers. These internships are unpaid and projects are carefully designed by each department in conjunction with the intern to ensure a practical and meaningful work experience. Participants normally spend between 8 and 16 hours per week at the internship unless otherwise arranged.

An example of one of our internships is the maintenance of the Resource Map under the direction of the County Juvenile Probation Department. This project is technologically challenging and requires interaction with a variety of groups in the surrounding counties to ensure accuracy.

For information on available internship opportunities please contact the Human Resources Department.
