Schenectady County Meetings Rescheduled Due to State of Emergency

Schenectady County has declared a State of Emergency starting at noon today due to a major winter storm. The State of Emergency is in effect until 5am on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

The following have been rescheduled due to the State of Emergency:

The County Manager’s Shared Service Plan meeting scheduled for today at 4pm has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 4pm.

The County Legislature’s meetings scheduled for 7pm tonight have been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 7pm.

Deadline to Sign Up for Public Safety Dispatcher I Trainee Exam is Monday, November 25

Schenectady County is reminding potential job applicants that the last day to sign up for the Public Safety Dispatcher I Trainee Civil Service exam is Monday, November 25, 2019. Minimum qualifications for the position include either a high school diploma or possession of a high school equivalency.

Schenectady County Legislature Commences Lawsuit Against Generic Drug Manufacturers

Schenectady County, together with 13 other New York counties, commenced a lawsuit against over 30 generic drug manufacturers on Wednesday, November 13th by filing it in Nassau County Supreme Court. The County alleges that these companies conspired to fix prices, divided up markets and engaged in bid rigging to increase the costs of certain generic prescription drugs.

Schenectady County Declares Code Blue, Urges Residents to Prepare for Cold Temperatures

UPDATE: Schenectady County's Code Blue declaration has been extended through Monday, November 18, 2019 at 8am based on the extended forecast for extreme cold over the next few days.

Schenectady County is warning residents to take precautions during the coming days of colder temperatures.

Parks & Greenspace Initiative Projects for Scotia, Glenville and Niskayuna Announced

Parks & Greenspace Initiative

The Schenectady County Legislature announced the approval of many community improvement projects for Legislative District 3 under the Schenectady County Parks & Greenspace Initiative, which was included in the 2019 County Budget.

The initiative was created by the Legislature to support parks, recreation facilities and green spaces and other community projects throughout the County.
