Schenectady County Thursday Farmers Market
The Schenectady County sponsored weekday Farmers Market opens for the season in early May and runs through October. The Market is located outside Schenectady City Hall and is open every Thursday morning from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM rain or shine. There is plenty of on-street parking available and free parking is available next to City Hall in the lot between Franklin and Liberty Streets.
Available items in May include early-season produce, flowering baskets, bedding plants, flowers, and vegetable seedlings for the home gardener. There is also chicken, pork, beef, eggs, honey and a variety of baked goods, specialty food items, jams and jellies and handmade artisan soaps. As the growing season continues, over a dozen vendors and farmers will bring additional in season products to the market.
SNAP benefits are accepted, and the market participates in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP). Women and children enrolled in WIC and eligible senior citizens may use FMNP benefit checks/coupons for fresh market produce. The market serves as a distribution site for senior farmers market coupons in early summer. Contact the County Department of Senior and Long-Term Care, Kathleen Albert, Senior Services Coordinator (518-382-8481 X9304) for further information.
