Schenectady County Partners with Mad Jack, Wolf Hollow and Great Flat Brewing Companies to Create Special SummerNight Ales

Schenectady County is proud to announce that Schenectady County’s finest brewers Mad Jack Brewing Company, Wolf Hollow Brewing Company, and newcomer Great Flats Brewing have teamed up once again to create special SummerNight Ales for Schenectady County SummerNight 2017.  The three breweries worked collaboratively to create a base ale that each then added their own unique hop.  This process has created three summer ales with subtle differences.  The SummerNight Ales will be unveiled and available for purchase at Schenectady County SummerNight on Friday, July 14, 2017 and then available at each of the three breweries while supplies last.

“This collaboration beer created by the brewers of Schenectady's breweries is a prime example of the craft beer community co-existing together,” said Billy McDonald, Co-Owner of Mad Jack Brewing.  “It’s not about the competition; it’s about the camaraderie going on in Schenectady County.  We are very fortunate to have an event like SummerNight that lets us showcase our creation.”

"Wolf Hollow's mission is focused on community, and collaborating with the other two Schenectady County breweries is one of the fun ways we get to promote our craft, said Pete Bednarek, GM and Co-Owner of Wolf Hollow Brewing Company. “SummerNight is a great way to kick of the summer and this Golden Ale is going to be the perfect complement for a fun evening in the city.  The cool thing about this collaboration project is that people will still be able to enjoy this product in each of our breweries in the weeks after the event.  It’s early summer and everyone should take a trip to each brewery and try to identify the subtle differences among the batches from each brewer's hop addition."

“As the new guys in town we were honored to be approached by Mad Jack and Wolf Hollow for this collaboration,” said Harry Whalen, Co-Founder of Great Flats Brewing. “I think it speaks to the strength of the brewing community in Schenectady County that we are all joining forces to release some awesome beer for SummerNight this year."

Schenectady County SummerNight 2017 is a FREE summer family-friendly block party, presented by Rivers Casino & Resort, Times Union, and Saratoga Eagle, and will be held on Friday July 14, from 5:00pm until 10:00pm in Downtown Schenectady (on State Street between Broadway and Barrett Street and on the Jay Street Pedestrian Mall) – right in the heart of the city’s revitalized and exciting downtown.  This year’s headliner is the Grammy Award winning Blues Traveler.  Additional acts on the GE Main Stage include 2016 Battle of the Bands winner Lucy and 2014 Battle of the Bands winner Stockade Kids.

“Schenectady County is excited to be part of this special collaboration between three of our great home-grown businesses,” said Anthony Jasenski, Chair of the Schenectady County Legislature.  “I invite everyone to join their family, friends, and neighbors downtown for a fun-filled evening, and if you are of legal drinking age, make sure to try one of these special SummerNight ales.”
