Schenectady County Legislature Announces the 2018-2019 County Initiative Arts Grant Program (CIP)

Anthony Jasenski, Chairman of the Schenectady County Legislature, is pleased to announce the continuation of the County Initiative Arts Grant Program (CIP) for 2018-2019.  Dedicated hotel/motel occupancy funds will be distributed to local organizations in support of activities in historic preservation, the performing, visual, and literary arts, or programs promoting County tourism.

“The Schenectady County Legislature is proud to once again support local organizations through our County Initiative Program,” said Chair Jasenski.  “Thanks to our growing tourism industry, the Legislature in 2018 will award $60,000 in funding, the largest amount in the history of the grants program. We are pleased to support those organizations that continue to make Schenectady County a great place to live, raise a family, and visit over and over again.”

Organizations serving the Schenectady County community may apply.  Potential applicants should be aware of the following guidelines:

  • Proposed projects must take place between April 1, 2018 and March 31, 2019, allowing the County to offer year-round support to worthy organizations.
  • The application deadline is February 14, 2018.
  • Additional consideration will be given to those organizations who demonstrate collaboration with other Schenectady County nonprofit organizations to complete the project.
  • Additional consideration will be given to projects that are proposed as part of an existing or proposed Schenectady County Special Event.

Complete guidelines, the application process, and grant eligibility requirements are outlined in the 2018-2019 Schenectady County CIP Grant Application, which can be found on the CIP webpage.  Any organization unable to download the application from the website may obtain an official application form by contacting (518) 388-4772 or  Copies of the application are also available in the County Legislature’s Office, 6th Floor of the County Office Building, located at 620 State Street in Schenectady.
