Schenectady County Board of Elections Reminds Voters of Registration Deadline for November Election and Extended Hours for Absentee Voting

Schenectady County Board of Elections would like to remind voters of important dates regarding voter registration and absentee voting for the upcoming November 7, 2017 General Election.

Applications for voter registration must be postmarked no later than October 13, 2017 and received by the board of elections not later than October 18, 2017 to be eligible to vote in the General Election.  Residents may also register in person during normal business hours at the Board of Elections by October 13, 2017.

Schenectady County Board of Elections will also have extended hours for absentee voting.  The Board of Elections office at 2696 Hamburg St., Schenectady, will be open the following dates:
 

Tuesday, October 24 5pm to 7pm           Monday, October 30 5pm to 7pm
Thursday, October 26  5pm to 7pm Wed., November 1  5pm to 7pm
Saturday, October 28 9am to Noon Saturday, November 4 9am to Noon


Applications for absentee voting are currently available on the Board of Elections website and must either be personally delivered to the county board of elections not later than the day before the election, or postmarked by a governmental postal service not later than Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

The absentee ballot itself must either be personally delivered to the board of elections no later than the close of polls on Election Day, or postmarked by a governmental postal service not later than the day before the election and received no later than the 7th day after the election.
