Schenectady County Accepting Applications for 2017 Senior Citizen of the Year

Schenectady County today announced a call for nominations for the “2017 Senior Citizen of the Year” awards.  The Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services is asking for your help by nominating a worthy older adult from our community.

“We are happy to once again have this opportunity to recognize our older residents for their time and effort devoted to helping others and their community,” said Karen Johnson, Chair of the Legislature’s Committee on Services for the Aging & Disabled.  “We are encouraging all of our residents to submit the name of a senior who has either through professional accomplishments or volunteer efforts, offered their time and experience to worthwhile projects or causes.”

The nominee may be any person 60 years of age or older residing in Schenectady County who has generously given of his or her time and energy to organizations or projects that have enhanced the lives of others.

The deadline for receiving nominations for the “2017 Schenectady County Senior Citizen of the Year” awards is February 10, 2017 by 5:00 p.m.  The nomination form is available online and at the Schenectady County Department of Senior and Long Term Care Services, 107 Nott Terrace Suite 305, Schenectady, NY 12308.
