Schenectady County Government is comprised of an elected legislative body of 15 individuals from the counties four elective districts. The legislature normally meets twice a month. The first meeting, the committee meeting, is used to communicate information to the legislators and decide which initiative should move forward to the regular meeting. The regular meeting is where the legislators vote on legislative resolutions.
The operational aspect of Schenectady County Government is made up of 39 departments ranging from Transportation and Social Services to Auditing and Public Safety. The county's employees perform the day to day activities that provide services to the residents of Schenectady County.
