Become an Organ and Tissue Donor

donate life capital region

There are currently almost 100,000 patients waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in the United States. Hundreds of thousands of people will need a tissue transplant this year. You have the power to help save and enhance lives. New Yorkers can document their decision to become an organ and tissue donor by enrolling in the New York State Donate Life Registry.

The registry is a confidential database maintained by the New York State Department of Health that serves as a legal document of consent to donation. Joining the registry ensures that a person’s decision to be an organ and/or tissue donor will be honored when possible. New Yorkers can enroll in the registry online at www.donatelifecapitalregion.com.

For more information, call the Schenectady County Department of Public Health at (518) 386-2810.
